Ants prefer sunny climates.  The Garden or Black ant don’t carry diseases but can be a nuisance when they get into your premises.  Ants travel far and wide considering this, they frequently travel through unsanitary areas before they end up on your kitchen counters.  It would not be a good idea having them in your food cupboards.
